YOGA THERAPY 

Yoga therapy is the practice of using yoga philosophy and techniques to help people heal at a physical, mental / emotional and spiritual level.

 

The practice may use asanas (postures), pranayama (breath work techniques), mantras, relaxation techniques and meditation.

 

Originally, yoga was taught one-on-one - guru to student - to benefit the individual.

We are all unique with our own assets and challenges as well as life challenges, illnesses and injuries.

​

When I design a yoga practice for you, it is to address all the above for your individual needs and situation.

​

I use asana, relaxation techniques and meditations that are appropriate for you and design a plan using drawings, photographs and sometimes recordings that you can follow in your daily practice at home.

​

Your program is then modified as you change and grow in your yoga practice and circumstances.

​

I also encourage you to attend the group classes as well. When practicing yoga in a group we are energized, uplifted and inspired beyond our own circumstances.

Our group yoga classes are a hatha style, with influences from yogalates and Ki yoga, and focuses on certain meridians in different classes and seasons. 

​

These classes will both strengthen and rejuvenate you through the selection and order of asanas (postures). Classes finish with a cooling stretching sequence and relaxation and or pranayama ( breath practice).

​

The Yin/Yang class is a harmonizing class for the end of the working week. Yin slowing and calming and internal after some strong activated Yang practices.

I am a qualified Yogalates instructor, with specialist training in yoga after cancer. I also have a diploma of remedial massage, and trained and specialised in oncology massage and lymphoedema management. CLICK HERE to find a registered practitioner.

These classes therefore reflect the theory of manual lymphatic drainage - principles of improving lymphatic drainage and enhancing the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) to rejuvenate our whole system.

​

I regularly attend relevant conferences, courses and workshops to update my knowledge, to inspire growth, change and introduce fresh elements to our classes and new practical techniques to my massage clients.

​
